Inspired by the 12 Tags of Christmas

Did you have a FANTASTIC Christmas?  I hope so!
To all my friends who sent Christmas cards, THANK YOU.  Each and every one is awesome!

In some respects mine was fabulous. . .I had my grandkids here!  (Technically they are not my grandkids yet because the wedding is not until April, but they have stolen my heart already so they ARE my grandkids!)   They are such sweethearts!  In other ways it has been a hard few days as this it the first Christmas without Mom.  Having Brandon and Izzy here definitely helped me though!

It's always a busy time of year but I managed to follow along while Tim was creating his 12 Tags of Christmas.  I even created about half them, but somewhere in the early days of the 12 tags I was inspired to create a shadow box using Tim's "Configurations"!  The box is why I don't have all the tags completed yet because I was making boxes!  I really had fun with this!

Some of the compartments were created using the technique introduced in the 12 Tags, other compartments were designed around the images used in the tags. Thank you Tim for the inspiration (and for designing the cool products!)

Something besides an ATC!!

Over at Simon Says Stamp & Show, this weeks challenge is to show your "grunge" and I have something besides ATCs to show you!!!   Taa daaa!

The "canvas" is taken from a grungeboard album. 

I inked the "Fall" hanging with various distress inks, background  cattail stamp is one of Tim's, the flourish is from the "Element" grungeboard pack, the leaves and pumpkin are scraps, the metal flower, trinket pin and swivel clasps are all from Tim's Idea-ology line and rock candy stickles were used on the lettering.

The snowman, his arms and  hat from the "Seasonal" grunge board pack, the trees are stamped using one of Tim's stamps.  The snowman is covered with "Glittering snow-tex glittering snow", I don't remember the name of the snow on the ground, it was a glossy dimensional type paint.  The hat band is a piece of red ribbon. 

Hope you enjoyed seeing something besides ATCs!  If you miss seeing ATCs, you might get a chance to see another one or two before we leave in 4 DAYS!!!  Yippeeeeeeee!!! (because we are leaving in 4 days, not because you get to see another ATC! lol)

My first Grandbabies picture! And 1 ATC - 2 challenges

As I mentioned in my last post I was waiting for my daughter, Kristine, and her fiance, Randy.  They FINALLY made it  here about 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon!  We had a fabulous, but busy weekend.  Friday we checked out a couple wedding venues and got ready for the party on Saturday afternoon.   I think there were 36 of us (including kids) to celebrate their engagement!   

My grandbabies are THE cutest sweethearts you could imagine!  I had a blast spoiling them this weekend!   On Saturday morning, Izzy & my oldest daughter, Erinn, were playing, as I was walked past Izzy looks at me and says "Grandma Linda, I love you!"  Of course, she has Grandma Linda (that is still a little weird to me, but in a good way! lol) wrapped around her little finger! lol.  On Sunday morning there was a quiet little knock on our bedroom door, when I said "who is it?" Brandon answered "me, can I please come in?"  How is one resist the sweet little guy, so he got to come in and snuggle with Grandma! (He might have Grandma Linda wrapped around his little finger too! lol) I could go on and on about Brandon & Izzy, but I will spare you, at least for now! lol

A couple of weeks ago, when the CC challenge was inking grunge I created this ATC with the Gingersnap Creation Color challenge - Yellow, Orange & Red (GC #64)  in mind.  I did not even think about challenge #63 - Sunshine until I looked at the ATC this evening and compared it to my list of challenges!

Here's my 1-fer-2 ATC! It's made on grungeboard with Distress Ink, an Idea-ology corner, some miscellaneous beads and I believe the sun is from a package of Colorbok chipboard dies with added ink on the rays!

Dreams!

The other night I had a dream, which according to experts is not unusual. It something that everyone does,  but usually once I wake up, if I a m lucky, I vaguely remember fragments of a dream but not much else.  Remembering the outcome of a dream several hours later is unheard of for me, but that's what happened.   

Before I show you the results of my dream, let me back-up a bit and give some background.  I bought Tim's "Caged Bird" die when it was first available and sent some die cuts to a couple of ladies who live overseas.  I did not send them all the "leftover" pieces (the pieces from between the bars of the cage).  I used a variety of paper, including grungeboard and grungepaper.  I had lots of them and I couldn't throw them away, I just knew I would use them "someday".

Then I had my dream.  I didn't even remember the dream until after I was up for a bit and went into my studio.  As soon as I sat down, it came back to me. . .well the end results came back to me at least.   This is what I was compelled to create:

The first is a card front using the "leftovers"  from the top cage as are the leaves, the stem is leftover from the bottom of the cage.  I am not sure if is completed yet, time will tell.  The second project is an ATC using leftovers from the bottom of the cage as a background.  All the leftovers are grungeboard, except for the stem which is grungepaper. All the ink is Distress Ink, except for the stamp which is Archival Jet Black. The stamp is from the "Visual Artistry - Flights of Fancy" set.  The spinners, washers, brads, jump rings and foliage are all from Tim's Idea-ology line.  The clock face is leftover from a project we did on the cruise; I think it is Heidi Swapp.   The gems and the heart lock are from my stash.
