Cards from September Scrappin' Saturday

It seems like Scrappin Saturday was yesterday, but in reality it was almost 2 weeks ago!  No matter when it was, these are the sample cards I made for the day!

Cards 3 and 5 are designs I "lifted" from Els' facebook page.  All the other designs are ones I created. Each card has Elizabeth Craft Designs stickers, Glitter Ritz highlight glitter and copic markers.

Cards 1 & 2 use some of Tim's (Holtz) dies.  Card 2 also has some "Dress it up" buttons.

Card 3 uses some Bronze Shimmer Sheets with Ranger's Alcohol Blending Solution,

The moon in card 4 was cut with a Nestabilities die, the Happy Halloween was stamped with clear embossing ink and Distress Embossing powder and Tim's "swirl" embossing folder.

Card 5 background stamp is Hero Arts "Holly Flourish "  stamp.  The design was stamped using Stazon inks.

Quick post for Paper Craft Island challenge

Have you dropped by the Paper Craft Island Blog yet?  It's a new challenge blog started by Kimi, it kinda like "Survivor" only for crafty people! lol  Those of us just hangin' out on the beach get to vote on the the projects each week.  The cool thing is the contestants are all anonymous!  The fun just started a few weeks ago, so go take a look.

This week there is a reward challenge for the shipwrecked (that would be all of us who are not the contestants).  The challenge this week was to make a birthday card for a 10 year girl, so here is my card!

A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol 2 - challenges 11 and 12

Whew!  Just under the wire with a not quite finished project for the challenge presented by the wonderful Linda at Studio L3!  Linda's challenge lasted 2 weeks, only I didn't see it until Monday (the 9th)!  Instructions for the challenge were to turn to pages 33 & 34 in Tim Holtz' "A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol 2".  

Like I said, it's not quite finished so I will be back in the next week or so with a finished box!

Better late than never

Last week over at Studio L3 was Challenge 9 from the Compendium of Curiosity, volume 2.  The challenge had us turning to page 35 of Tim Holtz' awesome book.

I finished my card too late to add to the challenge but I did finish it! I made it for my sister-in-law's 60th birthday, which we celebrated Friday night.  She loved the card!

The butterfly background started as a napkin!

Match Set

Hi!  It's been awhile, hasn't it?  I really need to get back to my poor neglected blog more often.

To create this gift box I (mostly) followed directions from Splitcoaststampers. The box lid was created by printing Pirates Lagoon from Gecko Galz' Never Land Paper Collection on White Diamond cardstock.  All of the printing was done on an Epson Artisan 810 inkjet printer.

The images on the  4 cards and the box band are digital stamps from Gecko Galz' Butterfly Dreams digital stamps set and printed on White Diamond cardstock.   .

The card bases were made with StarDream Metallic cardstock.  The mat on each card was created using another print of Pirates Lagoon.  If there is a 2nd mat on a card, it was paper from my scrap pile.

The lid was just printed, no extra techniques used to get the awesome metallic look.  I used gel pens to color the images on the band and added a butterfly charm.

This image was colored with gel pens and a black glaze pen.  I used some Tim Holtz Foliage Flower that I covered with copper Alcohol Ink Mixative.

This card was colored with Prismacolor colored pencils.  The heart ribbon slide I've had in my stash for awhile and is from "All My Memories".

For the next two cards I used  Distress Ink and just randomly blended a variety of colors (this is a favorite technique!)

This image on this card was mounted using foam tape and a gold leafing pen was used to highlight different areas of the frame, which is not showing up in the photo.

Scrappin' Saturday Success

Last Saturday (March 10) was a Scrappin' Saturday!  SJ, Teresita, Debbie and Stephanie came over to play!  This month's theme was Surprise!

 The Easter cards were created with an egg stamp by Great Impression and a sentiment "stickable stamp" also by Great Impression.  The striped background paper is "Hip Hop Hooray" by Reminisce.

The Christmas cards were created with Inky Antics' "Ornament Birdy" Clear Stamp Set.  The background paper is by BoBunny.

All the cards were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers (except SJ's Easter card which was colored with Prisma Color Pencils).  The surprise (honeycomb) inside the cards is Inky Antics' Honeycomb Paper Pad.

They also created a very adorable quick and easy card using Reminisce's "Bunny Collage" and paper from my scrap bin and embellishments from my stash.

 And then I took them outside their comfort zones!

Debbie and Teresita used a technique out of Tim's new Compendium of Curiosities II using rock candy crackle paint and Distress Ink Stains.  I think perhaps the darker Distress Stains would probably work better (and not giving the wrong crackle paint to start with. . .I couldn't figure out why Teresita's butterfly was white instead of clear.  I handed her some picket fence crackle instead of rock candy.

They both started by inking a Cuttlebug embossing folder with distress ink.  Notice how inking opposites of the embossing folder gives such different results.   And Debbie used some color wash to change the white eyelet blue as well as Tim's Tattered Floral Die.!

Stephanie used Distress Stain on her butterfly, then a then layer of Distress Stickles to cover her butterfly.  She used a piece seed packet paper from Tim's Seasonal Paper Stash, some twine, and Idea-ology embellishments.

As the title says a Successful Scrappin' Saturday!  We all had a great time with a day of learning and laughs!

Twisted Sketches card #95

I am getting back on track!  

To see the sketch for this card head on over to Twisted Sketches blog.  The twist this week is "leap".  

The sentiment is a Wendy Vecchi stamp from her "Art-fully said" set.  To take a "leap" (of faith) you have to believe all things are possible. The butterfly is from  Hero Arts' Antique Engravings that I stamped with Staz-on Jet Black on glossy cardstock after covering it with Alcohol Inks.   The flowers are also on glossy cardstock covered in Alcohol Inks.  (I used citrus, pool, cool perl,  purple twilight. and blending solution).  The black "circle"  was cut from Memory Box's Whimsey Circle die.  I attached the circles to the glossy cardstock and hand cut.   The card and lavender paper were from my scrap bin.  The buttons were in my stash.  Hope you like it!

So close, yet so far away. . . .

Last year this bird and her/his partner were frequent visitors and this past Monday they showed up again! They love the rose bush in front of our window.  They flit from one branch to the next, almost always near the house instead of the side or near the sidewalk.  They do not seem to be bothered by us moving around even if we get near the window.  They will even fly right up to the window on occasion.

They are fun to watch, especially when Artemis is around!  Artemis is a 100% indoor cat.  We call the window her TV.  If we don't open the blinds soon enough to her liking, she will sit on the back of the couch and gently paw at the blinds until she has annoyed us enough to open them for her! 

In the picture below you can see one of the birds "hovering" top of the picture just to the left of center and the other is in the lower right corner.

I know I've been away for awhile, but I think I will be back very soon and posting some of my creations!  Hope you will come back and visit!
