Multi-tasking cards!

Hi!  Glad you could drop by!

My first multi-tasking card used the technique for Grungy Monday Challenge 14 at StudioL3.  Linda had us visit Tim's (Holtz) blog for his March 2008 Technique Challenge.  I finally decided on the only tree stamp I had as the focal point so I could use it for the Operation Write Home challenge 3 "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" from last weekend's card making virtual party!

This 2nd photo is not that great, but it does show the metallic nicely (upper left corner)!

The 2nd multi-tasking card is for Gingersnap's Color Challenge.   We are supposed to make a card using the color of our country's money.  Which for the USA is green!  I created this card for OWH virtual party's 1st challenge - camouflage

Other cards I finished this week for the OWH

Challenge 14 Color Me Crazy

The intent was to use all three images on one card, but as you can see I made 3 cards!

Challenge 15 Play on Words

Challenge 16 All About Animals

Still need to finish the card for OWH challenge 2. . . the fish bowl is still drying. . . hopefully I will finish it tomorrow (Monday)!

Have a fantastic week!

At the Mall - Gingersnap Creations GC105 - an experiment

I love challenges as it allows one to try things one might not ordinarily try, such as altering the color in a photograph.

When I saw the Gingersnap Creations' theme for their Chestnut Challenge, I KNEW which stamp I HAD to use.   Since I chose a "photo" stamp, I didn't want the "mall" to be black and white too. Sooooo, using a ghost town image from Altered Pages "Ghost Towns" collage sheet, I stepped outside my box and changed the color using one of my photo software programs!  I am not sure I will employee this technique lots, but it was fun to try something different!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Gingersnap Creation - GC101 Cowboys and Cowgirls

Over at Gingersnap Creations blog the Chestnut Theme Challenge is Cowboys and Cowgirls.

I've had this piece done for a couple of weeks, but when I saw the pictures, I almost threw the card away!  It looked awful! Well at least the "ground' looked awful and the color of the card was worse.  I used Prima colored pencils to color it.  After I did a little ground work, I like it much better.  The card itself looks fine to my eye, just not the cameras.

Then I made the mistake of setting the card aside.  I looked everywhere for it so I could take more pictures and see if they came out any better.  No matter where I looked I couldn't find it.  That is generally what happens when I start to clean - I can't find anything.  So I gave up to finding the card and when on to sort some [paper] scraps I have accumulated.  It's amazing what one finds!  In the bag a scraps not only did I find my missing cowboy, but found some tape I had been looking for too! lol

Any way here is my "revised" cowboy, lookin' much better:

The stamp is from I Brake for Stamps. I used Staz-On jet black ink, Prima colored pencils, distress ink around the edges, the mat is a piece of grocery bag and the horseshoe is cut freehand then inked with vintage photo distress ink covered with vintage photo ditress embossing powder and covered with rusty hinge distress ink!

Hope you had a fabulous weekend and have a great week!

Linda
PS - As I mentioned, I am cleaning (my studio) and if you are interested in an envelope full of scrap paper - anywhere from 1" x 6" up to 8.5 x 11, let me know and I will send an envelope stuffed full. If more than one person is interested I will either divide it up or have a drawing or something but my scrap bin runneth over so some has to leave. Leave a way for me to contact you too, please.

A busy weekend!

I've been on a roll this weekend, actually all week!  Saturday was the deadline for getting items entered in the State Fair delivered.  I made it to the fair grounds with 22 minutes to spare. (And I was NOT the last person arriving either! lol)  Judging is Wednesday and then sometime before June 2, entrants find out what didn't make it.  (We have to pick up the items not receiving a ribbon on June 2 or June 3  or have the fair people mail the stuff on June 2.)   Once I know what made it and what didn't I will share pictures.

I was in creative high gear all week, then kicked it up a notch on Friday and Saturday.  I guess the juices are still flowing today as I have been busy creating most of this cool, rainy day!

Grungy Monday Challenge 6 (GM)(hosted by the fabulous Linda at Studio L3)  is based on Tim Holtz' 12 Tags of Christmas 2007, Day 8.   If you haven't checked out the challenges, you really need to as they are great fun!

Over at Gingersnap Creations' blog the Random Redhead Challenge that ends today is "Fans".  Gingersnap creations is another awesome challenge site, if you haven't checked them out, it's another place you need to go!

I decided to combine the challenges!  WHAT? How do you combine GM with fans?????  Well I created the background using GM's technique:

The piece on the left is being "saved", I have an idea floating around to use it in my canvas I started with Grungy Monday challenges 1-5.  The piece on the right is what I used for the background of Gingersnap's challenge.  (When I took this picture I wasn't quite finished with the GM as you are supposed to stamp an image on it, which I did eventually as you will see!)

I created some fan using washi paper and Tim's Sizzix rosette die.  I used the tiny attacher to hold the fans together, then wrapped some cord around the staple and volia! I had this card!  (Ok, I added a little glue and tape too, but you know what I mean! lol)

Since the base of the card is an Onyx (black) I created a second background piece to use as a liner inside the card:

Hope you enjoyed your visit!  Please take a moment and leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you!  Have fabulous week and don't forget to check out Studio L3 tomorrow for Grungy Monday challenge 7!

Linda

Supplies used for this card are:  Onyx (black) Stardream folding card, Inkssentials Manila Cardstock (LOVE that stuff!), Adirondack Aqua Dabber, Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink, Simply Sage Delta Paint for Paper, Hanko Designs Washi paper, Great Impression #e320 (leaves),  Kodomo Ink "Sayings  1", Studio Matte Medium and Miracle Tape.

Not sure

I am not sure if this qualifies for the Gingersnap's GC87: Random Redhead - Tea Bag Template Challenge but there is a "teabag" and I used a template for a tea cup so I thought I'd enter it!

And yes, this is another wedding related project!  I can't take credit for the theme of the shower as the Maid of Honor and bride came up with it.  I can't take credit for the teacup design either, that came from a template at  Split Coast Stampers.   After the girls cut the cups out, I used the Floral Fantasy embossing folder by Cuttlebug, used a gold leafing pen across the top and bottom, and glued the sides of the cups.  For the tea bag I inked both sides (one side at at a time) of the paper using Tea Dye Distress Ink and misted with a couple drops of Old Paper  DI mixed with water, then printed the info, cut out, trimmed, inked the edges and attached the string and tag with a tiny attacher.  (I inked both sides of the paper because there is information on both sides!) These were pretty quick to make and I was very happy with the way they came out!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Queen of Last Minute, part 2

The other challenge that I wanted to create something for and also ends tonight (Sunday) is GingersnapsCreations GS78 Spicy Supply Challenge: Sewing Notions.

I used Tim Holtz' Configurations for the base.  If you haven't played with one yet, you really need too!  I am HOOKED.  Don't be surprised if you see more configurations on my blog!

I started this project shortly after the challenge was announced.  I just finished it because I wanted a sewing machine and found one on eBay.  When I got it, it wasn't quite as big as I wanted. I have been pondering every since on what to include with it. There's a hanger in there now (even though it's hard to see), but I'm not sure if I am satisfied.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Years ago my aunt gave me a box of old sewing notions that I had no idea what to do with it, but I couldn't get rid of it.  From that box of goodness I used the pincushion (I applied a coat of Studio Matte Medium because the covering is so thin from use and age.)  I also used part of an old tape measure I found in the box.

Other items such as the snaps, zipper pulls, thimble and bobbin came from the "nuts & bolts" cabinet I claimed after my mom passed away.

This is a close up of the cover on plain background so it's a little easier to see. The stamp is from Wendy Vecchi's Fashion Style and Art stamp set.

The flowers are some I made  when Tim (Holtz) Tattered Floral die came out. They are in a vintage wooden spool.  The pattern in the background is a reduced photocopy.  The lace if from my mom's stash.

I have a few other configurations either started or planned!  They are loads of fun and I hope you will be able to play with some SOON!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!  Have a fabulous week!

Another Ginger Gem!!!

I was checking out the "wrap-up"  on the red and black challenge over at Gingersnap Creations (if you haven't checked it out, you really should!) and saw Annette from Netty's Craftings  is the week's home page artist!  Congratulations Annette!!!

I scrolled down  and the first Ginger Gem is a STUNNING altered bottle by Evelyn. Next is some fantastic digital art by Gayle and I was thinking GS had some fabulous entries  for the red and black challenge!  My thoughts were confirmed as I scrolled through the gems and when I got to the last one I was quite surprised and honored, as it was this . . .

. . . my ATC for the challenge!

Thank you Gingersnap Creations for selecting my ATC as a Ginger Gem, I am truely honored!

Another ATC and only 9 more posts to go

Yep, I created another ATC. . .the cruise is ALMOST here (we leave in 11 days and some hours as I type!) so you won't see ATCs much longer!  I really do know how to create things other than ATC! lol  This ATC is doing double duty for Compenduim of Curiosity Challenge Week 14 and Gingersnaps Creations color challenge # 68 red & black!

The "enjoy the journey" is one of Tim's stamps, I used black archival ink on red tissue paper.  The background is Barn Door and Black Soot distress ink with one of Tim's mask.  The "hardware" is all from Tim's lines a couple have pitch black alcohol ink.  The car is a "dress it up" button.

The "only 9 more posts to go" refers to how many posts I have before my big 100th post giveaway!    I will post a picture of some of the prize package soon!  I won't know everything in the prize package as I plan on getting something to add to the package in the "Mario Store" on the cruise!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Cool! 2 (challenges) for 1 (ATC)

The "Spicy Supply Challenge" (GC 70) over at GingersnapCreations is "punches".  The challenge at Drunken Stampers is "cirlcles".   If you haven't checked out these cool blogs, you really need to and while you are there check out all the awesome creations for each of these challenges!

I created this cute little guy using some punched circles (see how nicely that fits into both challenges! lol) and some scraps!  I used one of Tim's texture fades for the background, then sanded the circles!  "Cool" was stamped using Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink then covered with stickles (I think "diamond" but not positive.)  And yes, this is another ATC for the cruise!

Guess I need to get busy and finish all these ATCs with the backs!  Only 2 1/2 weeks to go!

Take care, hope your weekend is everything you want it to be!

Linda

PS - ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  I will let you in on a secret. . . when I make my 100th post (I am guestimating it will be after I get back from the cruise, but it could be sooner) I will be hosting a BIG blog giveaway.  If I have 100 followers BEFORE my 100th post it will be even a BIGGER giveaway.

Have I mentioned I am going on a cruise with Tim (Holtz)?  Hmmmm, maybe it will include something I bring home with me.  So if you are not a follower, maybe you should be.  I will ship worldwide, so the drawing will be open to EVERYONE!  Maybe this is a secret you should spread around.

Gingersnap Challenge #65 Famous Painter or Painting

Gingersnap Challenge #65 Famous Painter or Painting closes on Sunday.  I couldn't come up with anything.  I had a few ideas, but they involved looking for some postcards from an art class I took a year or so ago.  The thought of trying to find anything in any of the places they might possibly be staying safe is daunting.   So I was going to let this one go.

In May I was in an antique store and they had bags of used postage stamps for a dollar.  I grabbed a couple of bags.  One bag has stayed in my sight since I purchased it, the other one disappeared.  Tonight the 2nd bag just materialized (things do that here).  It was stuffed full, I found some stamps that fit perfect in the Gingersnap challenge.  So I made a quick, simple ATC!

The artist are Mary Cassatt, John Trumbull and Thomas Easkins.  Art history is definitely not one of my strong suits, so I did a little research.   Each name is linked to an article on Wikipedia.

I guess the art classes I've taken have left a small impression on my brain!  I didn't remember Mary's name, but I recognized one of her paintings, "The Boating Party"!!!  I am totally impressed! lol I thought I recognized John Trumbull's name before I looked up his art work, after I looked him up I didn't recognize any of the paintings.  I didn't recognize either Thomas Easkins' name or paintings.  Like I said, art history is NOT my strong suit.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Another ATC, another challenge

I have been working on ATCs for the cruise for awhile and try to work them into challenges as much as I can.  Today I created a couple of ATCs for the Gingersnap Color Challenge #64  -Yellow, Orange, & Red.  I could not decide which one I liked better so I am posting both, since they both fit!  Be sure to check out the link and see all the other creations for this challenge!

This first one I used a piece of "recycled" tea box, covered with gesso, then added yellow, red and orange oil pastels, covered that with a thin coating of multi-medium.

For the 2nd ATC, I used Alcohol Inks-including copper (it looks brown in the picture). The stamp is one of Tim's.

Have a fabulous weekend!

I am honored!

This morning I noticed there was a new comment on my grandkids post, so I jumped on to see the comment.  I was very pleasantly surprised when Terry congratulated me on being selected as a GingerGem over at Gingersnap Creations for my "Sunshine" challenge ATC (GC#63)!  You can view the other AWESOME GingerGem's creations here!

Doing the happy dance,

My first Grandbabies picture! And 1 ATC - 2 challenges

As I mentioned in my last post I was waiting for my daughter, Kristine, and her fiance, Randy.  They FINALLY made it  here about 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon!  We had a fabulous, but busy weekend.  Friday we checked out a couple wedding venues and got ready for the party on Saturday afternoon.   I think there were 36 of us (including kids) to celebrate their engagement!

My grandbabies are THE cutest sweethearts you could imagine!  I had a blast spoiling them this weekend!   On Saturday morning, Izzy & my oldest daughter, Erinn, were playing, as I was walked past Izzy looks at me and says "Grandma Linda, I love you!"  Of course, she has Grandma Linda (that is still a little weird to me, but in a good way! lol) wrapped around her little finger! lol.  On Sunday morning there was a quiet little knock on our bedroom door, when I said "who is it?" Brandon answered "me, can I please come in?"  How is one resist the sweet little guy, so he got to come in and snuggle with Grandma! (He might have Grandma Linda wrapped around his little finger too! lol) I could go on and on about Brandon & Izzy, but I will spare you, at least for now! lol

Pictured is Brandon, Randy, Kristine & Izzy!

A couple of weeks ago, when the CC challenge was inking grunge I created this ATC with the Gingersnap Creation Color challenge - Yellow, Orange & Red (GC #64)  in mind.  I did not even think about challenge #63 - Sunshine until I looked at the ATC this evening and compared it to my list of challenges!

Here's my 1-fer-2 ATC! It's made on grungeboard with Distress Ink, an Idea-ology corner, some miscellaneous beads and I believe the sun is from a package of Colorbok chipboard dies with added ink on the rays!

Hope your weekend was FABULOUS!

Take care!

Linda

CCC #9 (edited to add Gingersnap Creations Challenge 66: Paint!)

As you know for the past 9 weeks, every Monday Linda at Studio L3 posts a new Compendium of Curiosity challenge.  This Monday was no different and since I KNEW I had a busy week I planned on completing the challenge on Monday night.  It didn't happen.  I did  FINALLY finish the project, just a little later than I wanted.

Week 9's challenge can be found on page 42, Distress Crackle.  This week instead of an ATC, I went in a different direction!

I tried taking pictures in the studio of the completed project, but they were not very good.  This morning I took my "masterpiece" and headed outside for some natural lighting.  I was just about finished with the photos when I heard a noise that sounded very close to my ears.  I looked up and saw a shadow of a hummingbird on the house.  When I (slowly) turned around she was only a couple feet away.  I tried to get a picture of her, but she was too fast.  After a short time, she flew to a branch and sat.  I tried getting a picture of her sitting there watching me.  Even with a 10x zoom she blended in with the trees too much.  Then she took off again to come "distract" me, but only now she had help! There were 2 hummingbirds flying around me.  I managed to get my camera on burst shooting, but still didn't get a good picture (didn't think about changing to action shots until I was typing this!)  She went back to original branch and sat and watched.  Then he decided to sit on a branch that was much lower and I was able to get a picture!
I looked around, but didn't see a nest, but I am sure there must have been one nearby because normally hummingbirds do not usually get as close as these two were to me!  Thankfully, they didn't get any closer or I might have nightmares (a la Alfred Hitchcock's  "The Birds") lol

Oh, I did manage to get a picture of my project too!

The wood frame is from Ikea that I painted with acrylic paint, after that dried I followed page 42 using  Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress Crackles.   On the ship's wheel I used Weathered Wood Distress Crackle.  The seaweed is again leftover scraps from Charlene's journal and the sand is from MuddPuddles.  The Mermaid image is a Microsoft Office Clipart, it's hard to tell in the photo but I used Sakura Glaze pens on her hair, clam shells and scales.  On her necklace I used Stickles.  She is cut out and mounted on foam tape.

Have a fabulous weekend!  I know I will - my youngest daughter is coming home with her fiance and my future darling grandkids and we will be celebrating their engagement with family and friends!

Take care
Linda

PS As I wait INPATIENTLY for my daughter to arrived I was checking out blogs and realized my frame will work for the Gingersnap Creations Challenge 66: Paint since Distress Crackle is a type of paint!  I LOVE it when one project  works for multiple  challenges!

Out on a limb

One of my goals for 2010 is to join challenges once or twice a week.  I haven't been consistent with one or two a week but I have participated in more challenges than ever before so I am counting myself as successful so far in this goal.

Another goal was to step outside my creative comfort zone.   I haven't really worked on this one much this year and I am OK with that.  I needed the familiar and comfortable in creating this year.  The familiar and comfortable helps in healing.   I still need the familiar and comfortable but this evening I was ready to go a little beyond the comfortable!

Gingersnaps Creations Challenge #59 is "Fairies".   The only fairy stamps I have are Tinkerbell.  Now don't get me wrong I like Tink and there is nothing wrong with her.   I was just not in the mood to make something with Tink.  I have been contemplating this challenge for some time, trying to do decide what I was going to create without buying a new stamp.    I perused my stamp collection and the closest I could come to a person/fairy was this:
Then I went to my "bits & pieces" jar and my "odds and ends" jar.

In these jars one never knows what one will find, it's always fun to see what's in them.  It could be a pair of wings , it could be pearls or game spinners or just about any little thing I have in my studio that did not get put away properly or maybe there were only one or two of whatever left so, I add them to the jars.  There's not any differences in the jars other than their names.

See, like I said, always an adventure when looking in the jars.  Then I raided the bins I inherited from my mom and found a couple of small drapery hooks and some other type of hook.  Then I "threw it all together", added some, ink,  fibers, a few jewels and my fairy was created.  She is definitely not my "normal" but I am quite proud of her!

Here she is, out on a limb!

I am not sure what I am going to do with her, for right now she is sitting on a bottle next to my monitor.  I think I will keep there for the time being reminding, it's not was so bad stepping outside your creative comfort zone!  What was your last project outside your zone?

Take care
Linda

With days to spare (and a special request)

With days to spare I went into overdrive for the 3rd week of  Compendium of Curiosities Challenge (CCC) at Studio L3!   Using this week's challenge -Alcohol Ink Monoprint - I created a ton of ATC backgrounds (about 30!) and 4 card backgrounds!  I have even managed to complete 6 ATCs!!!  I have other ATCs in progress and a few that are being "re-purposed" (or you could ATCs I screwed up and "saved" them by using in other projects! lol)

Now I find a fabulous way to use a fragment!  (The piece under the fragment is one of the re-purposed pieces I mentioned above!)   The tree image is a Penny Black Stamp using Staz-on Jet Black.  The sentiment is by Great Impressions. The birds in the top left corner are from one of Tim Holtz' Visual Artistry set.

Next up is an ATC that not only works for the CCC but also the Gingersnaps Challenge #57 - Wings The sentiment was stamped using Staz-on Jet Black from a Hampton Art Stamps. (The background of the main words is another re-purposed piece!) The background stamp is Hero Art's, "Sandra's Letter Background" stamp. I used Coffee Archival Ink.  The hearts and wings are grungeboard.  The hearts and small wings were inked with Distress Ink (Hearts -Barn Door; wings Vintage Photo, I think).  The large wings were covered with Distress crackle paint (Vintage Photo).

And here is a glimpse of the "ton" of ATC backgrounds that are waiting to become masterpieces!

If you are lucky, I will show you the other ATCs later in the week, unless of course I get distracted and make something else!  Did you see Tim's (Holtz) post today? Did you know I can get distracted pretty easily? lol  And if you haven't looked at his post, you really should! Then you will understand!

Before you leave, I have a request.  My son-in-law, Tim, (not to be confused with Tim Holtz) is preparing to depart on a deployment as I type. He is in the US Army.  He will be gone for quite awhile.  My daughter is 1,000s of miles away from the rest of her family.  Please say prayers and/or send good thoughts for his safe return and for them both to looked after by angels.
I love you Rebecca and Tim.

Take care,
Linda

2-fer

I  love it when I can meet 2 challenges with 1 card!

The first challenge is House Mouse and Friends challenge 70 -  good-bye  or farewell using one of their stamps. House Mouse is also having a blog hop with some great prizes, too!

The second challenge is  Gingersnap Creations challenge 54 - Pencils.  You can draw or color with pencils, include an image of pencils or even incorporate the real thing into your piece.

I have only have one House Mouse Friend stamp. . .it's a Gruffie stamp that my sweet husband picked up for me while I was spending most of my time at the hospital with my mom.  I stamped the images at home, then while visiting her I colored them with water color pencils, and "painted" with an aqua brush.

The text is printed using MS "Elephant" font, all the paper is from my stash and not sure of the manufacturer and the bee is an "all dressed up" button.

GC55: Random Redhead - Quotes AND Quixotic Challenge #26: How Sentimental!

I picked up some stamps in the Hanko Designs booth at the Sacramento Stamp Show on Saturday that are perfect for the May 19th GingersnapCreations Challenge - Quotes and the Quixotic Challenge #26: How Sentimental, also from May 19th!

Here's what I came up with using some of my new treasures from Hanko Designs!

The quote stamp is one in a set of four by Komodo Inc and stamped with Stazon Jet Black on Ivory Kosome Floral Cardstock (I think).   The red Washi paper is from a pack called "Element Whirl". (I love the "distress" look of this paper!)  The charms are also from Hanko Designs.  The black card base is from my stash by Die Cute with a View and the gold at the bottom edge is Krylon 18 KT. Gold Leafing Pen (The little dragonflies are on the inside of the card.!)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.  Please leave a comment, I love hearing from you!

On a roll! GC52: Color Challenge - Kraft completed

I completed a simple birthday card for the Gingersnaps Creations #52: Color Challenge - Kraft!

I crumpled up a brown (kraft) paper bag, added some vintage photo distress ink, crumpled it up again and added some pumice stone distress ink.  I gave it a quick spritz of water then ironed the paper smooth.  I used Staz-on jet black ink on the Tim Holtz stamp.  I added a compass from Tim's "salvaged stickers" and a small spinner.  The "Happy Birthday" was computer generated at some point. . .it fell out of my stash of scraps when I was looking for some background paper.  The background was a leftover of "road trip" by Reminisce, it's hard to tell in the picture, but there is a map.  The card is a kraft cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you take a few minutes to leave a comment.

More challenges completed!!

I completed more 4 challenges!  I don't get much time in my studio as it has been converted to a bedroom for the moment too, so I made ATCs!  My daughter who is staying in my studio will be leaving in 10 short days to head to Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas for 4 months of training.  She just completed 4 years in the Air Force and is now in the Reserves.

I started by combining several GingerSnaps Creations challenges.  I combined GCSP3  Blue Moon Challenge - Take on a Tutorial with a little GC50 -.Found Objects and a little GC 51 Botanicals.

I used the ATC Tutorial by Susan Briss and made these 2 ATCs.   The way this really started was I started cleaning my work table.  I found everything with the exception of the woman on my worktable and the words.  The black backing was scraps as was the background paper I had created for another  project.  The pick-up was leftover from something, who knows what.  The flowers, gem stone and copper wire "stem" were in the pile of things to put away.  The "best" found object is the flower pot!  It was a left over piece from the Eiffel Tower in the card in the previous post!  I had used it to test colors.  The flower is "Botanicals", but I usually think "old fashion" when I think of botanicals so I may try to create something a little more old fashion for GC51.

I completed Tuesday Taggers Dragons, Dragons Everywhere challenge.  I read Eileen's blog where she has mentioned the "Drunken Scotch" technique and gave a brief description on how to do it.  I read it in the morning.  I created the ATC in the evening without re-reading the description until AFTER I tried it.  Then I googled for complete directions.  The heat gun didn't make it to the glue until the glue had started to dry, and I didn't use Scotch brand glue, I used "Aleene's" Tacky Glue and various Alcohol Inks  (does that  mean I used the "Drunken Aleene Technique"? lol)  I used the technique as the frame. The background paper is courtesy of Astrid, she some free backgrounds on her blog!  The "ready to roll" came out of a magazine, I just added a little ink to age it a bit.  It's hard to tell in this photo, but the dragon is mounted on foam tape in the attempted to make it look like he is coming out of the frame.

And last but not least for today, I created an ATC for Art Creations Friday's challenge 71!  The image of the little girl  is on their blog, the background is another one from Astrid.  To me the little girl has such hope that she gets to go play in the water and sand down by the ocean!  The sand by her feet is a blend of Distress Stickles.

I am in the process of making my first ever easel card, maybe I will have something to show you later this weekend!   Hope you all have a great weekend!  Take care,

Linda
